Lady Gaga. David Bowie. Prince. The intersection of fashion and music is always an interesting place to be, with two powerful genres constantly pushing the other to new dimensions. As they blow through Chicago, we'll talk to style-conscious emerging bands about their sartorial inspirations, discoveries from their travels and, of course, fashion disasters from the road.
Our next edition focuses on the Brooklyn-based duo of Beacon. Think of Beacon's music as a 21st century mix of wide-ranging '90s influences from electronica to R&B. The result is a wonderfully moody, atmospheric sound, as evidenced by the must-hear song "Feeling's Gone." The guys are even able to turn Katy Perry's sprightly "Last Friday Night" into a melancholy post-party elegy. (You should also check out Beacon's covers of Portishead's "The Rip" and Ginuwine's "So Anxious.") The group plays Co-Prosperity Sphere in Bridgeport on Dec. 14 with How To Dress Well in support of the EP For Now. We caught up with them recently to get their take on style.
